2016 – Annual General Meeting
On Thursday 28 April, 2016, The Mother Club held it’s Annual General Meeting.
President Christine MacLeod welcomed all present, thereafter Margaret Dickson, Hon. Secretary, noted Apologies for Absence.
A moments silence was then observed for 2 members who had passed away since the last AGM.
The Minutes of the last AGM were read and approved, as were the Annual Accounts. This was followed by the various Annual Reports from the President, Treasurer, Secretary and the various Convenors.
The Election of Executive Committee commenced with the President Christine MacLeod investing Jim Donnelly with the Chain of Office as President of the Mother Club for 2016-2017. Jim then thanked the members for the great honour and took control of the remaining part of the AGM.
His first duty was to present Mrs Christine MacLeod with her Past Presidents badge. Jim then thanked Christine for the work she carried out on behalf of the Club during her term of Office. This received the approbation of all present.
The President then invested Jamie Donnelly (his son) as Senior Vice-President / President Elect followed by Barclay Smith, who was invested as Junior vice-President.
The President acknowledged the retirement from the Executive Committee of three members and praised them for their sterling work during their time on the Committee. After the usual elections, he then welcomed four members on to the Executive Committee.
Mrs Margaret Kane, Past President, then presented with a cushion knitted from Icelandic wood, which had a verse inlaid from “A man’s a ma for Aw That” to Immediate Past President Christine MacLeod”, who was vey appreciative of the gesture.
Jim Thomson took this opportunity to present the mother Club with a “Burns” book, which had been presented to a member of the Mother Club almost 200 years ago. This was graciously received by Margaret Kane, who stated that she would research the Club archives and report back on the member and the book.
After the Senior Vice-President Jamie Donnelly gave the traditional Vote of Thanks, the meeting was closed and all enjoyed a welcome refreshment.
