2017 – Annual St. Andrews Night Celebrations
On Saturday 25 November, 2017, the members and their guests gathered at the Tontine Hotel, Greenock for the Annual St. Andrews Night Celebration.
Club President Jamie Donnelly gave a warm welcome before we sat down to enjoy a nice meal.
After the meal, Jamie introduced our speaker Mr Guy Clark, Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, who proposed the toast to St. Andrew and Scotland. The toast was delivered in an expert manner and was informative, entertaining and very humorous toast with comparisons with St. Andrew the fisherman and anglers in St. Andrews.
The toast was very well received and deserved the subsequent standing ovation.
After an interval, Jamie Donnelly introduced Sharon Tucker, who entertained everyone with her repertoire of Burns and Scottish songs.
At the end of the entertainment, June Forbes, Senior Vice-President, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The Executive Committee would like to thank the Tontine Hotel for the use of the facilities, the members of the Mother Club for their generous donations to the raffle, to June Forbes, Alan Beck, Sandy Reddy and Barclay Smith for their organisation of the raffle but more especially to all who attended and made the evening a success. A special thanks to Margaret Dickson and Billy McCready all of the preparatory work behind the scenes.
