2016 – Coffee Morning
The Mother Club held their annual Coffee morning on Saturday 15th October, 2016 within the Greenock Town Hall.
The Coffee morning was declared open by Councillor Robert Moran, Provost of Inverclyde, who praised The Mother Club for all of the good work they carry out within the Inverclyde community, with special mention to the Inverclyde Schools Burns Supper and the Inverclyde Burns youth Festival. He then enjoyed a cup of tea and some delicious home baking before spending some time visiting the stalls and having a chat with the visitors. Before leaving, President Jim Donnelly presented him with a small personal gift and thanked him for taking time out of his very busy schedule to support The Mother Club.
After a slow start, visitors eventually drifted in to the coffee morning and supported us at the various stalls and the raffle.
The first prize in the raffle, a celebration cake depicting Clarinda (Agnes McElhose) and verse from “Ay fond Kiss”, was won by Mrs Margaret Anderson of Kilmacolm.
Thanks go to members and friends who donated to the various stalls with prizes, home-baking etc.
Thanks also goes to Auld Bakery, Greenock for the splendid celebration cake.
A special thanks goes to our Junior Vice-President Barclay Smith, convenor of the Coffee Morning Sub-Committee and his team who did a fantastic job in organising the event.
